Balinese Pictures III: No baby

Posted by Janine and Mikkel

We have left Bali for Perth, wet heat for dry heat, mixed rice and noodles for barbeques and muffins. Hereby the last Bali Pictures of beautiful temples, yummy food, creative sculpture work and the obligatory rice fields.

Temples and offerings. Bali is temple galore:Every house has its own private temple; every street its own street temple; every part of town its own community temple; every lake, every hill, mountain or other landmark its own temple. Offerings and prayers are done on a daily basis (food, drinks, flowers, etc.) in all of these temples with regular special ceremonies involving the whole extended family or street.

The food. Fresh fruit juices and cocktails at all times of the day, fried noodles, gado gado, tempe burgers, grilled tuna, chicken saté, seafood curries, urab, etc. etc. Yummie!

Sculptures: Bali probably got more sculptures than people. Sculptures of demons, monkeys and gods seems to be in every garden, temple, entrance, etc. Most look pretty much a like, but once in a while there is one that stands out from the rest...

Ricefields and more: Bali is covered with ricefields. They are green, got lots of water and very photogenic. So every tour with a driver will include stops to take photos of the rice fields...

Keep an eye out for our next post. It might include a baby again!
