Kashmiri "siking"

"Siking" is skiing in Kashmiri and is, so I guess, more or less the same thing. That is besides the huge amounts of fresh snow, the lack of spaghetti bolognese and tartiflette, the remoteness and size of the mountains, the low number of other "sikingers", the inconsistency of the liftsystem and the number of soldiers and guns around every corner.

We had a truly great week in Gulmarg in Kashmir with lots of great fresh powder runs, hundreds cups of teas with both local men and foreign ski adventurers and high walls of build up frustrations from the not working lift system. But looking back we mostly remember the amazing snow, the long descents crossing more animal tracks than tracks from other skiers, the view from 4100 meters up to some really big mountains and all the truly great and welcoming local men. Take a look at a few of our photos. We will tell you more about Kashmir when we get back home...whether you like it or not!
